A full day out for next to nothing, Judith Tucker
The Humberston Fitties is a conservation site of 320 characterful chalets surrounded by gardens, sand dunes, wildlife and water. La Belle Hélène is in the last row of houses before the coast, so you just have to walk out over a small road and a garden gate to be at the beach- see map.
La Belle Hélène is perfect for those wanting to wind down and slow their pace of life, perhaps even revisit childhood memories of summer holidays. It’s very close to the sandy beach for sandcastles, swimming, SUP and even kite surfing! From the beach, turn right for SSSI RSPB Tetney Marshes to see the saltmarsh habitat with waders, seabirds and rare plants. Turn left along the coast to enjoy the bustle of Cleethorpes with plenty of shops, arcades and fish and chips on the pier!
